Nokia N900mobile phone delayed until Dec 4th

Friday November 27, 2009

One of the year’s most anticipated and highly sought-after mobile phones, the Nokia N900, has been delayed, apparently as a consequence of overwhelming consumer demand.

According to a post on Nokia’s semi-official blog NokNok, the phone will now not go on sale until December 4th.

The high-end handset had initially been expected to arrive on shelves in early November, but its launch was postponed while Nokia made last-minute adjustments to the device.

Nokia’s official reason for the latest delay is that it has been inundated with pre-orders for the smartphones.

Touted as being closer to a pocket PC than a mobile phone, the touchscreen-operated N900 is home to a powerful ARM Cortex A8 processor and 1GB of dedicated application memory, to allow users to multi-ask and access more than one application simultaneously.

The handset also features a physical QWERTY keyboard for efficient text entry and is the first ever Nseries phone to feature Nokia’s new Linux Maemo operating system.
